A Letter to our Readers

Though I’ve always had a great affection for summer (I am a Gemini), there is something irresistibly intriguing about fall –something about warm caramel colored boots, the rich dark plum or hunter green of a jacket, deep red lipsticks, the sly tilt of a woolen hat.  Fall is every woman’s clean slate.  It ignites our creative spark.  Summer’s whimsy is swept away, and in marches a parade of change and innovation.  Designers throw their wildest dreams at the runway, and we do our best to bring them down to earth:  new colors, new shapes, in new combinations—

In the spirit of change, we at the Denver Fashion Beat are revamping and reorganizing too.  Andrea Merida, our founder and publisher, is still backstage pulling the strings while simultaneously running a successful campaign for the Denver Board of Education. (Look forward to a publisher’s note from her later this month.)  I have been privileged enough to take her place as the creative voice for the DFB; together we’ve brought on board several new classy, sassy style gurus to cover every inch of fashion from hat to hem.  We will cover events, boutiques, designers, advice, and— for our male readers out there like Chris and Todd, the Denver Fashion Beat will now expand our interests to menswear.

From accessories that update your work week, to waist belts, to the perfect weekend Loeffler boots, our September issue is dedicated to the things that inspire us.  I hope that similarly, they will inspire you.
