Style maven Sarah Penewell introduces TLC makeover to Denver

by Juliana Echavarria, Fashion Correspondent

If you love watching Stacy London’s fashion tips on TLC’s What Not to Wear, then you are going to want be part of her latest venture. Stacy has partnered with Woolite for their national “Find the Look Keep the Look” program which is geared to teach women easy tips and tricks to help extend the life of their clothing – essential advice during the current economy which is causing many women to shop in their own closets, dig out old styles to avoid buying anything new. Women are being smart shoppers and being extremely careful about the type and number of items on which they are splurging. The “Find the Look Keep the Look” program aims to give women a bigger investment through their purchases by learning the proper ways to care for textiles such as lace, jean, knits and more.

To help support the program across the U.S., Stacy London hand-picked ten fashion boutique owners from various cities, and who better to represent and support this program in Colorado than Denver’s own Sarah Penewell, local designer and owner of one of the city’s most prestigious and favored fashion boutiques, Sarah Boutique. In addition to her design and boutique owner experience, Penewell has also worked as a wholesale representative; through her sales experience Sarah had the opportunity to build long-lasting solid relationships with different boutiques and designers around the country and obtain unparalleled insights into their work ethic. Sarah’s presence will help bring Woolite’s program the attention and following that it deserves.

After finding out that she had been chosen by Stacy London to be part of the “Find the Look Keep the Look program,” Sarah was excited, honored, and thrilled for this great opportunity.  Although Sarah Boutique is closing, Sarah plans to continue working in other segments of the fashion industry and use her presence in the local industry to support this program.

The “Find the Look Keep the Look” program is also holding a makeover contest in which contestants get a chance to win a New York shopping spree and personal style consultation with Stacy London. To enter the program or learn more about the program, visit www.findthelookkeepthelook.com.  Even though Sarah Penewell is not holding a makeover contest of her own locally, she is reaching out to all Denver fashionistas to provide them with the hottest tips on how to look chic, fabulous, and timeless at an affordable price. For the spring and summer seasons, Sarah recommends that Denver fashionistas focus on shopping for three key investment pieces: dresses, accessories, and cardigans.

As far as spring and summer dresses are concerned, Penewell recommends purchasing two dresses, one solid and one print that can be layered and dressed up or down according to the occasion. For accessories, Sarah loves spring’s and summer’s printed and bright colored faux leather purses as well as great chunky jewelry pieces layered over each other which quickly update a dull outfit. Finally, Sarah says that cardigans are a must for spring and summer. Cardigans can be added over the dresses and paired with skinny belts, “this look was seen at almost every collection in Paris this season,” raved Penewell to Denver Fashion Beat.

In addition, Sarah boutique is offering consumers a once in a lifetime opportunity to look fashionable for a less expensive price. Everything at Sarah Boutique is on sale. This is the last opportunity for Denver fashionistas to shop from this award-winning boutique (named Best of Westword 2008 and Top of the Town 2008 by 5280). “It’s a great time to come in,”  happily declared Sarah. Some specific pieces that consumers can get for a less-expensive price at Sarah boutique in order to look absolutely fabulous this season include Trina Turk and Haley Bob dresses, Aimee G (eco-friendly skirts and shirts on which the boutique has exclusivity), and Lindsay Bloom rings and necklaces.

Finally, she also encourages women to turn to their own closets and homes to look stylish. For instance, a few key trends from this past fall and last spring and summer that Sarah thinks women in Denver can incorporate back into their wardrobe these coming seasons in order to save money are scarves.  “I think women can bring scarves back all the way to Fall 2009. Because we dress casually in Denver a scarf is the perfect way to “up” the chic factor without trying too hard,” explained Sarah.

So, if you are looking for chic and bright spring and summer friendly garments head over as quickly as possible to Sarah Boutique to get styled by one of Denver’s most influential fashion stylists, Sarah Penewell. And don’t forget to check out the “Find the Look Keep the Look” (http://www.findthelookkeepthelook.com) program in order to get quick tips on spring’s must-have closet essentials and learn more about Woolite’s products and ways in which they can help you extend the life of your garments and save money.
