Araceli’s Fashion Picks: Mona Lucero Brings the Glam!

by Araceli Lerma, Style Correspondent – araceli@dfbeat.com

This week I bring you some fabulous looks from none other than Denver’s own premier fashion designer,  Mona Lucero.  She showed me some stunning looks just perfect for stepping out in style, making the girls and boys drool with envy and desire.  Check out these looks modeled by yours truly (click each image to see a larger version).

Blue cotton/lycra tunic top

The first is a playful look I call “casual glam.”  Here is Mona’s versatile  “Edie S.” tunic in a dark periwinkle, of cotton/lycra.  You can wear it as a hoodie, like I’ve done here, or you can drop the neck down to wear as a cowl.  What I really love about this tunic top is the extra-long sleeves that you can keep long or scrunch up.  It’s so comfortable and it’s really an important piece in your wardrobe, because you can get lots of different looks…and therefore stretch out your clothing budget.  I’m wearing it here with Mona’s Carmen Zebra Skin tights.  Edie S. tunic, $98.  Carmen Zebra Skin tights, $42.

Leopard print car-length coat

The second look brings back that Audrey Hepburn glamour, perfect for the office.  It’s Mona’s ultra-chic “East Meets West” car-length coat with black detail around the cuffs and pockets.  It’s raw and edgy and sophisticated all at the same time.  This is your chance to get affordable custom glamour for yourself, because you can specify the color, length, fabric and details.  Need a shorter length to fit your proportions?   No problem.  Are you a more statuesque gal that needs a longer sleeve length? Consider it done.  This is also a smart wardrobe investment because you can get this classic styling to coordinate with your existing wardrobe.  I can also picture it with a great pair of dark jeans and stiletto heels.  I’m wearing this fantastic coat with Mona’s “Hollywood Glam” brown gored mid-calf skirt.  East Meets West coat, $280 to $310, depending on customization.  Brown gored skirt, $68.

Rock-and-Roll Girlfriend dress (back, inset)

The final piece from Mona Lucero’s collection is her “Rock-and-Roll Girlfriend Dress,” and is it ever hot, HOT, HOTTT!  This is also a customizable piece, and I’m wearing Mona’s version in black with satin trimming.  It features a slimming mid-calf length with a trendy uneven raw-seam hemline and…wait for it…a deeply dipping, sexy low back.  You can pair it with the optional skinny scarf and Mona’s signature Faux Russian Fur Hat, which takes the dress to a new, hip urban grunge level.  Can’t you just picture this dress on your bridesmaids at your glam rockabilly wedding?  Rock-and-Roll Girlfriend Dress, $250.  Faux Russian Fur Hat, $38.
